TORONTO -- Ever since he was named an All-Star for the first time, Blue Jays right-hander Marco Estrada has looked like anything but.Rick Porcello pitched seven innings to become the first 20-game winner in the majors, Hanley Ramirez hit a three-run homer and the Boston Red Sox increased their AL East lead to two games by routing Toronto 13-3 on Friday night.Estrada (8-8) allowed four runs, three earned, and six hits in 2 1/3 innings, his shortest outing of the season. The last time Estrada failed to finish three innings was June 30, 2015, also a home loss to Boston. He was off, no question about it, manager John Gibbons said. He lives on the edges and he was just missing.Estrada is 3-5 with a 5.32 ERA in nine starts since his All-Star nod. He missed the All-Star Game after being placed on the disabled list because of a sore back.Estrada threw 30 pitches in the first inning Friday. He finished with 39 balls and 38 strikes, the first time in 58 starts with Toronto hes had had more balls than strikes.Nothing went our way today and obviously it started with me, Estrada said. When your starting pitcher is out there making a bunch of pitches like that, it brings everybody down.Toronto, which was swept in a three-game series at Yankee Stadium earlier this week, fell to 1-6 in September. The Blue Jays made two errors and had two wild pitches and two passed balls. We havent necessarily been playing good baseball the last week but I still believe, Gibbons said.Porcello (20-3) allowed two runs and six hits to become Bostons first 20-game winner since Josh Beckett in 2007. Porcello came in 6-7 with a 5.27 ERA in 15 career games against Toronto but kept the Blue Jays in check. Its hard to win one game in the big leagues, let alone 20, Porcello said. Im definitely very proud of that.Xander Bogaerts homered and Dustin Pedroia had three hits and four RBI as the Red Sox used 18 hits to rough up the sloppy, slumping Blue Jays in the opener of a pivotal three-game series between the divisions top two teams. The Red Sox broke it open by scoring six runs in a 10-batter seventh. Bogaerts hit a leadoff drive off Scott Feldman, his 18th. Three batters later, Ramirez connected off Feldman, his 22nd. Pedroia capped the rally with a two-run single off Ryan Tepera.Boston (79-61) surpassed its win total from a last-place finish in 2015, when it went 78-84.CHEEKY CHEERBlue Jays OF Melvin Upton Jr. dropped a fly ball in the third and misplayed a double by Brock Holt in the fourth. Upton got a derisive round of applause from the crowd of 46,953 when he cleanly fielded Bogaerts single later in the fourth. Fans offered another sarcastic cheer when Upton caught Travis Shaws fly ball to end the fifth.PARKA FOR PAPIBlue Jays sluggers Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion presented retiring Red Sox DH David Ortiz with a winter parka and a leather jacket before his final series in Toronto. Ortiz has 40 career home runs at Rogers Centre, more than any other road ballpark. Ive seen enough of him, Gibbons joked about Ortiz. The Blue Jays made a donation to Ortizs foundation.TRAINERS ROOMRed Sox: OF Andrew Benintendi (left knee) ran the bases before the game and will try sliding as early as Saturday. A very good day for him, manager John Farrell said. There is still no timetable for Benintendis return. ... Boston recalled LHP Henry Owens from Triple-A Pawtucket.Blue Jays: C Russell Martin (left knee) was held out of the lineup. Martin aggravated the injury in Wednesdays loss at New York and was replaced by a pinch-hitter in the ninth. Hes still pretty sore, Gibbons said.UP NEXTRed Sox: LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (2-6, 4.83) has a 2.73 ERA in nine starts since the All-Star break. Rodriguez is winless in his past five outings.Blue Jays: LHP J.A. Happ (17-4, 3.44) is winless in three starts since his 11-game winning streak ended Aug. 25. Happ won his only start against Boston this season, allowing one run in seven innings. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- This was supposed to be Jacksonvilles year. Promise would become production.A lengthy rebuild would evolve into the cornerstone for sustained success.Coach Gus Bradleys always-upbeat approach would pay dividends with a drastically improved roster.Owner Shad Khan set the tone, saying a winning record was everybodys reasonable expectation.Reasonable? Maybe. Realistic? Not anymore. The Jaguars (2-5) are among the NFLs biggest disappointments, failing to take the step many believed they would in Bradleys fourth year. They have offensive woes, defensive issues, coaching concerns, discipline problems -- and seemingly no clear means of fixing them in the second half of the season.Bradley has received the brunt of the criticism. His career record (14-41) has become as integral to the state of the franchise as Blake Bortles turnovers, sacks and flawed mechanics. But its hard to pin all the teams shortcomings on coaching even though Bradley fired offensive coordinator Greg Olson after an embarrassing loss at Tennessee last week.Just because there has been a move made or a switch has happened, it doesnt mean we are all of a sudden going to start putting up numbers offensively and winning games, Bortles said.Especially when the team has as many deficiencies as Jacksonville. Here are some key ones:-Identity. Even after an entire offseason, four exhibition games and seven regular-season outings, the Jaguars are still trying to find out who we are and what we do well, Bortles said. New offensive coordinator Nate Hackett will try to figure it out beginning Sunday at Kansas City (5-2).-Run game. The Jaguars rank 31st in the league in rushing, averaging 72.6 yards a game. They signed Chris Ivory to a five-year, $32 million contract in free agency to provide a 1-2 punch alongside T.J. Yeldon, but the offensive line hasnt had enough consistent push to create holes.-Line play. General manager Dave Caldwell didnt do enough to improve the O-line in the offseason. He gambled on injured left tackle Kelvin Beachum in free agency, but counting on guard Luke Joeckel (out for season), second-year pro A.J. Cann and right tackle Jermey Parnell appears to be the major misstep.-Bortles. The third-year pro is playing likee a run-of-the-mill rookie.dddddddddddd Hes blaming footwork and fundamentals for his inaccuracy and an elongated throwing motion thats allowing defensive backs to break on passes and defensive linemen to knock down balls. In a last-ditch effort to fix the flaw, Bortles brought in his offseason mechanics coach this week for a two-day refresher course.-Pass rush. Of Jacksonvilles 13 sacks, six of them came in London against Indianapolis woeful line. Rookie Yannick Ngakoue has been a bright spot with four sacks and three forced fumbles, but the Jags clearly need more consistent pressure from Dante Fowler, Malik Jackson, Jared Odrick and others.-Turnovers. Compounding their defensive dilemma, the Jaguars havent gotten a turnover in three games. And thats against Chicago, Oakland and Tennessee.-Discipline. Jacksonville leads the NFL in penalty yards a game (91.3), a big burden for a team with a small margin for error. Fowler has been Bradleys most egregious violator. He has been flagged seven times already, including four for lining up offside and two for personal fouls. When Im out there, Im just out for blood and everybody, said Fowler, who missed his rookie season because of a knee injury. I have to tame that and control that.Jacksonvilles season appears to be spiraling out of control.Khan hired Caldwell and Bradley in January 2013 and cautioned that the roster overhaul would take time. They took a huge swing the past two seasons by signing 10 starters in free agency and entered this season with playoff expectations. But now, after nearly four years of buildup and two months of letdown, its understandable to question whether Caldwell missed on three first-round draft picks (Joeckel, Bortles and Fowler) and whether Bradleys player-friendly process has produced more pitfalls than progress. It is a challenging time right now, Bradley said. (Khans) unbelievable. What do I say? He wants results. ... Both Dave and him feel that we can get this done. Whether other people believe it, I dont know. But I know that is his belief.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
