BROOKLYN, Mich. -- Brad Keselowski was asked to pick one word to describe a lap at Michigan International Speedway. "Fast," the defending Sprint Cup champion said. "This is, to me, the fastest track we have -- and it might be in speed, but it definitely is in feel." MIS is in its second year with a newly paved surface, and drivers are again making 200 mph laps look almost routine. Carl Edwards topped Sprint Cup qualifying Friday with a lap of 202.452 mph. That run came a year after Marcos Ambrose won the pole at MIS at 203.241 mph -- the first time since 1987 the 200 mph mark was broken during qualifying for NASCARs top series. "The new track is super fun to race on," Edwards said. "The pavement seems like it has aged more in a year than a lot of new track surfaces have, and hopefully we can keep developing a Goodyear tire and keep making it softer and softer to where it becomes the old Michigan here in a year or two. I think that is going to be awesome." Edwards topped qualifying for the first time this season. He had the pole in May at Talladega as well, but that was because qualifying was rained out and the field was set by practice speeds. Hes second in the Sprint Cup standings. Kurt Busch was second in qualifying, followed by Kasey Kahne. Points leader Jimmie Johnson was 17th, one spot behind Keselowski. Edwards started second last weekend at Pocono, but finished 18th. Now, his No. 99 Ford looks capable of a big weekend. "The engine is a big part of it, and today the engine group came through huge," Edwards said. "You cant hide a bad engine out there on that racetrack. That is a big racetrack where big power means something, and same thing with the aero program. We have to keep moving forward but that is cool. There is not a faster car in the place than our car today and that is a big deal." Dale Earnhardt Jr., who won at MIS last June to snap a streak of 143 Cup races without a victory, qualified 12th. Busch is coming off a seventh-place showing at Pocono -- his second top-10 finish in the last three races. Hell start in the top two Sunday for the fourth time this year. "Its just a good feeling -- to be on the front row four times this year," Busch said. "So were just going to keep rolling. To be second, thats qualifying, now weve just got to step into the race, and thats where weve got to close the deal." Thirteen drivers qualified with speeds of at least 200 mph, although nobody could eclipse the mark set by Ambrose. "To come as close as Carl came today, Kurt was right there and then we were behind him -- to come as close as those guys did to the qualifying record, that shows how fast the car is here," Kahne said. "The race, the speeds will be up for sure."Ante Zizic Cavaliers Jersey .S District Court against Major League Baseball, the Office of the Commissioner and his own union, the MLBPA. What hurt more was that the Steelers didnt have a victory to show for his effort.Roethlisbergers tough performance wasnt enough to keep the Steelers alone in first place in the AFC North. After struggling for three quarters, he got hot too late to prevent Pittsburgh from absorbing a 21-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.Barely three weeks after Roethlisberger underwent surgery on his right knee, coach Mike Tomlin put him back in the lineup.Ultimately, it was his call. He is the head coach, Roethlisberger said. We waited until the 11th hour, as he is allowed to do. He made the decision, and rock and roll. For three quarters, the 13-year pro looked rusty. Then, after Pittsburgh fell behind 21-0, Big Ben brought the Steelers back.He threw for one score and ran for another. He finished 23 for 45 for 264 yards, with the majority of the positive numbers coming over the final 15 minutes.I appreciate his efforts and his will, coach Mike Tomlin said.Roethlisberger might have pulled out a win if he had any backing at all from the Pittsburgh running game. LeVeon Bell got 32 yards, Roethlisberger was second with three yards and DeAngelo Williams contributed one yard on one carry.Thats two yards a carry. Pittsburgh also converted only four of 17 third-down tries, andd its pretty evident the Steelers are not yet approaching playoff form.ddddddddddddIts frustrating, Roethlisberger said. Taking away nothing from them, theyre a good defense. But we didnt make plays. I didnt make plays. I didnt convert third downs. I turned the ball over. Its frustrating because (I) hold myself to a higher standard.Roethlisberger might have fared better if the Steelers didnt accumulate 99 yards in penalties or didnt get bunched up at the line by Baltimores impressive front four.I think it was just us not executing, Bell said. You have to give those guys credit. They kind of kept us off our rhythm. The Steelers (4-4) have lost four straight with a game against Dallas upcoming. The game plan will be the same it always is: Run first, then pass. Its a fine line, Roethlisberger said. Weve talked in weeks past that we were scrapping the run game too soon. We had a game plan and stuck with it.There at the end, we had to go, so we picked up the pace and went no-huddle and had to throw it. I give the line a lot of credit for keeping the guys out while we were trying to do that.Although the Steelers lost, Roethlisberger said he got through it without damaging his knee. That was perhaps the most uplifting aspect of the afternoon for the Steelers.I feel fine, he said with a grin.
