Germanys Andre Greipel won the opening stage of the 13th edition of the Tour of Britain as Mark Cavendish fell in a crash on the final corner. The 161.5-kilometre stage from the south of Glasgow to Castle Douglas saw a tactical sprint finish won by Lotto-Soudals Greipel, who powered to his fifth Tour of Britain victory in a time of three hours 52 minutes and 40 seconds ahead of Orica-BikeExchanges Caleb Ewan and Team Giant-Alpecins Ramon Sinkeldam.Greipel told ITV4: Its really nice to start off this Tour of Britain with a victory and now we reached our goal for the first day and everything else is on top.Ive done six weeks of training after the Tour de France and this race is really important towards the next goal [Octobers Road World Championships]. The Tour of Britain is quite a tough race, but its the right moment in the race calendar. We reached this yellow jersey on our shoulders together. James [Shaw] did a really good job of chasing the breakaway and all of the rest tried to get me in front on the final corner and we did it perfectly with even six guys, which is not easy in a race like that but we managed to do so and Im really proud of the guys.Team Dimension Datas Cavendish was involved in a crash which also included Team Skys Olympic omnium champion Elia Viviani in the last kilometre on a tight corner as teams tried to assemble their riders into a position to challenge.ONE Pro Cyclings Peter Williams, who won both the white and green jerseys last year, was among the early pace-setters along with An Post-Chain Reaction pair Emiel Wastyn and Jasper Bovenhuis, Jonathan McEvoy (NFTO) and Tom Moses (JLT Condor) as they attacked the three categorised climbs in Scotland.Meanwhile, Dimension Data, LottoNL-Jumbo, Orica-BikeExchange and then Team Sky were all lined up on the front of the peloton with 21km to go as they closed the gap to 45 seconds. The breakaway riders were eventually caught in the final 10km with Lotto Soudal and Trek-Segafredo leading from the front before Team Dimension Data finally made their move to bring Cavendish into prime position for a strong finish.Team Sky, led by Viviani, and Orica-BikeExchange began to strike as teams jostled for position in the final kilometre but as Cavendish and Viviani became casualties on the final corner, Greipel was perfectly placed to streak through and claim the yellow jersey.Britains Chris Latham (Team Wiggins) and Dan McLay finished ninth and 10th respectively while Sir Bradley Wiggins was a distant 111th. Stage two begins in Carlisle before finishing in Kendal.Robert Franks Jersey . This should be celebrated because it will not always be this way. With the amount of money given to players by their clubs these days, it is a wonder that so many of those teams allow the sport to continue to take away many of their assets so they can play for a different team in the middle of their season. https://www.hornetslockerroom.com/Dell-Curry-City-Edition-Jersey/ . -- Vincent Lecavalier got everything but the desired result in his return to Tampa Bay. "Im in a really good position for tomorrow," Scott said.OKLAHOMA CITY -- The start of the 2016-17 season for Russell Westbrook almost couldnt have gone any better and hell try to keep it going when the Oklahoma City Thunder host the Phoenix Suns on Friday. Not only did the point guard lead his team to a comeback 103-97 victory over host Philadelphia on Wednesday, but he narrowly missed a triple-double with 32 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. As he enters his ninth year, Westbrook continues to transform from an aggressive scoring guard to an all-around point guard who can take over games in a variety of ways. Its just taking my time, being patient, poised and managing the game, Westbrook said. Its part of my job, to be able to manage the game at a high level and thats a huge thing for me moving forward with this team. But it was the defense the Thunder displayed in final minutes against the 76ers that really stood out. They had to come up with three consecutive stops, including a blocked shot by guard Andre Roberson and guard Victor Oladipo taking a charge to secure the win.I think that was the key, Thunder forward Enes Kanter said. When you try to finish the game, when you try to finish the fourth quarter, I think the most important thing is the defense. Everybody was focused, everybody did a good job.Opening night was not as kind for the Phoenix Suns. They were at home Wednesday taking on fellow Pacific Division rival Sacramento and fell 113-94.The Suns got off to start shooting the ball, but trailed 57-38 at half. Using their reserves, however, Phoenix was able to go on a run in the third quarter and cut the lead to 10.dddddddddddd. But that would be as close as they would get.Guard Eric Bledsoe was back on the court for the first time since a season ending knee injury in December. He scored 16 points in his return. Guard Devin Booker led the team with 18.However, having the second unit play as well as it did was a positive note Phoenix coach Earl Watson can carry into the Suns game with the Thunder. The momentum changed everything, Watson told The Arizona Republic. Our second unit, we just played young guys, let them play aggressive, let them have fun, be creative. They played with a lot of passion. It was fun to watch. It was also a way for Watson to send a message to his veterans who under-performed and played with lackluster effort at the start. The way I addressed the team was, you cant use, Were young, Watson told Arizonasports.com. Our young guys got us in the game. Our veterans have to come and have to play with the same passion.Even though the Suns are coming off a contest in which their offense inconsistent, the Thunder are wary of the explosive squad. They are a very, very fast team, an explosive team, Thunder coach Billy Donovan said of the Suns. Their backcourt with Book and Brevin Knight has speed. Along with Bledsoe, they can shoot the ball. (Tyson) Chandler is one of the great rollers to the rim and a great post defender. They have the ability to play small. They are a different team than Philadelphia, but it will be a challenge. ' ' '
