SAO PAULO, Brazil -- Brazil is set to deliver the last stadium for the Confederations Cup only a few weeks before the start of the World Cup warm-up tournament. Concerns with the countrys preparedness, however, are far from over. The stadium that will host the opener in Brasilia on June 15 is finally completed and will be officially inaugurated on Saturday, giving FIFA and local organizers the last of the six venues for the tournament of continental champions. But the Confederations Cup will start under less-than-perfect conditions. Infrastructure work is yet to be finalized in nearly all of the venues and the majority of the stadiums will not go through the ideal number of test events in time for the tournament. FIFA usually wants three test events in each venue, but that was not possible in Brazil because of a series of delays in stadium construction. Four stadiums werent completed by the original December deadline from FIFA, and some even missed two other deadlines established by local organizers, including Brasilia and the Maracana, home of the final on June 30. Both venues will only stage one full test event open to the public before the Confederations Cup starts. FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke visited the venues this week and local organizers expressed confidence the country will be ready for the warm-up tournament. "Thanks to our visits to the Maracana and the Estadio Nacional in Brasilia we can see just how much effort the host cities have put into getting the facilities ready and ensuring that the Confederations Cup meets the organizers expectations," Brazil Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo said. Jose Maria Marin, the president of the local 2014 World Cup organizing committee, added: "We are just 30 days away from the most important football tournament that our country has hosted since the 1950 World Cup. The Confederations Cup is a chance to show the world we can deliver an unforgettable tournament." The Brasilia venue was delayed because of a problem with the pitch installation. Local authorities said there could be irreversible damage to the playing field if the stadiums opening isnt moved forward. They blamed excessive rain in the region for the disruption of the installation schedule. The stadium is one of the most expensive venues built in Brazil, costing about $500 million. It is also one of the most criticized, with many saying that it will become a "white elephant" after the World Cup because the city has no teams in top leagues. Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff will attend the inauguration match on Saturday, when local clubs Brasiliense and Brasilia will play. Only 30 per cent of the 70,000-capacity stadium will be open to the public. The first event fully open to fans will be on May 26, in a match between traditional clubs Santos and Flamengo in the opening of the Brazilian league. The venue will host only the opener in the Confederations Cup, but it will stage seven World Cup matches next year. Maracana also will undergo only one full test event open to the public, a friendly between Brazil and England on June 2. "We will make sure we use this game to test all that we can," Valcke said. "We have one game and we will use the game as a test event." The stadium opened with a friendly between Friends of Ronaldo and Friends of Bebeto, when only workers and their relatives were allowed to attend. Work is still under way at the iconic venue, which will also host the World Cup final and the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2016 Rio Olympics. The Recife stadium was symbolically delivered in April but the inauguration is Monday with a commemorative match among the venues workers. The first full test event is set for next Wednesday, a day after FIFA officially takes over the six venues for the Confederations Cup. FIFA has said more than once that it will "not tolerate" delays ahead of the 2014 World Cup. It wants all venues ready by December 2013, with no exceptions. Logan Allen Jersey .
