In a recently released clip from the documentary The Hurt Business: A Deeper Look at MMA, former UFC champion Ronda Rousey refers to mixed martial arts as the most responsible form of violence.Rousey, 29, is one of the primary subjects of the film, which opens Sept. 29. During the clip, Rousey says someones personal involvement in MMA could actually lessen the likelihood of committing other violent acts.I think a lot of people that are ignorant about [MMA] think that it promotes violence, when it really is the most responsible outlet for it, Rousey said. Its a human instinct to fight, and if you try to suppress it entirely and put everyone in a bubble-wrapped society, thats when people end up going nuts and shooting movie theaters. If any of those people that had all of that aggression built up in them had some sort of outlet, I think that we would have a lot more societal health.Rousey (12-1) is a former Olympic bronze?medalist in judo who made a successful transition to professional MMA in 2011. Fighting out of Glendale, California, she became the first woman to sign with the UFC in 2012.She defended the promotions 135-pound bantamweight championship six times before surrendering the belt to Holly Holm in a knockout loss at UFC 193 in November. Rousey has not returned to the Octagon since the loss, but UFC president Dana White has repeatedly said he is hopeful she could return before the end of the year. Before her loss, Rousey was seemingly invincible in competition. In February 2015, she set a record for the fastest finish in UFC title-fight history by defeating Cat Zingano via armbar in 14 seconds. UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor broke that record nine months later by knocking out Jose Aldo in 13 seconds. Its not violence for the sake of violence, Rousey said. The word art is in it for a reason. When I go in there, yeah, Im fighting, but really what Im trying to do is outsmart the other person. Its a puzzle to be solved.Im not going in there and spazzing out, swinging my hands -- lifting weights so I can swing my hands even harder. Its more mental and tactical than anything else, and I think its the purest, most beautiful sport in the world. In addition to profiling Rousey, The Hurt Business: A Deeper Look at MMA also focuses on former UFC champions Jon Jones, Rashad Evans and Holm, according to a release. There will be no FIFA executives to shield while being dragged out of the hotel into police cars again.FIFA is no longer hosting its executives at the waterside super-luxurious, lake-side hotel that became synonymous with the sports corruption scandal last year when Swiss police launched dawn raids on previously untouchable leaders.By moving its ruling-council members from the 172-year-old Baur au Lac to the more modest five-star Park Hyatt in Zurich, FIFA will be saving money during next weeks meetings.FIFA provided no details of the rooms where council members will be staying, but the cheapest double room for Oct. 13 at the Baur au Lac is 870 Swiss francs ($900) which can be booked at the Hyatt for 527 Swiss francs. The decision to switch hotels was made by new FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura. Were on business so a good solid business hotel I think is more appropriate, FIFA Vice President Victor Montagliani, who is also head of the CONCACAF confederation, told The Associated Press. Its not just only cost-cutting. As we have done at COONCACAF, its about sending a message we are here to work and I think those are some changes that have to happen.ddddddddddddMoving hotels ends a troubled association with the Baur au Lac which became world renowned -- for the wrong reasons -- when several soccer officials were arrested in their bedrooms at dawn on May 27, 2015. Swiss police were executing arrest warrants on behalf of American authorities, who have charged more than 40 people in a soccer corruption investigation. In video captured by The Associated Press , then-Costa Rican Football Federation president Eduardo Li was seen being escorted into a police car last year as hotel porters held up white sheets, unsuccessfully trying to shield him.Despite the unwelcome wake-up call, FIFA didnt abandon the Baur au Lac after the arrests. And police paid another visit to the hotel when FIFA executives were in Zurich last December to execute a second wave of arrests. When the FIFA Council meets next week, the Baur au Lac will be a lot quieter.
