OMAHA, Neb. -- Contrasting styles of play will be on display Tuesday when ninth-ranked Wisconsin visits No. 22 Creighton in one of the Gavitt Tipoff Games. While the Badgers favor a disciplined, halfcourt type of game, the Bluejays like to get out and run, forcing teams to try to keep up with them in transition.Wisconsins philosophy has worked well, even last season when Greg Gard stepped in as head coach at midseason and led the Badgers to their fifth trip to the Sweet 16 in the past six years. The Badgers return all five starters from that team, including preseason Big Ten player of the year Nigel Hayes. Wisconsin (1-0) blew out Central Arkansas 79-47 in its opener. The Tipoff Games are an annual series between Big Ten and Big East conference teams and are named in honor Dave Gavitt, the founder of the Big East. This is the second year of an eight-year run for the event that is played during the first full week of the regular season. That level of success Wisconsin has enjoyed this decade is a standard the Bluejays are trying to reach. Creighton has missed the NCAA tournament the past two seasons and has not made it past the second round since 1974 when the Bluejays lost to Kansas in a regional semifinal.Junior guard Maurice Watson said this is the kind of game Creighton has been preparing for, to show this is the season the Bluejays can get past the round of 32.Basically Its just us testing our will and proving that were an elite team, Watson said. That we can hang with the teams that are in the top 10, top 15 in the country. Its about us going out there to prove to ourselves and our fans that we can hang at this level.Freshman center Justin Patton also is confident Creighton will be able to play a faster pace than Wisconsin prefers and get one of those coveted wins against a top 10 team.I just hope that as a team we can keep our composure and execute down the stretch, Patton said. If we just stay to our game plan, it will work out. Probably not early in the game, but late in the second half, things are going to start going our way. Were going to wear them down.Patton and Watson agree with Bluejays coach Greg McDermott that CenturyLink Center, the building that Creighton has turned into a formidable home court, will be the place to be in Omaha Tuesday night.McDermott can see the pros and cons of playing a game of this magnitude so early in the season.I think part of me would like a little more time to get ready for a test like this, McDermott said. On the other side of the coin, when you play good teams, and especially experienced teams, your weaknesses are exposed, so you have a chance to fix them early in the season. To play a team the quality of Wisconsin, with their experience and their veteran leadership, its great for our program and great for our fan base. This place will be rockin tomorrow.Watson is hopeful that the noise levels will rise because things are going Creightons way. They run their offense all the way through, Watson said. Everything moves at pace, theyre calculated. They kind of run through their bigs. They dont want to run like us.All we can do is play our game, and playing our game is going to make a lot of teams uncomfortable.Creighton (1-0) got past UMKC 89-82 in its opener. Its an injury that will require about eight weeks to heal. He finished a disappointing campaign just 14-13 with a career-worst 4. http://www.airforce1gunstig.de/air-presto-deutschland.html . Argentina winger Ezequiel Lavezzi and France midfielder Blaise Matuidi scored, with star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic setting up both despite having a poor game by his high standards. Forward Eduardo gave Ajaccio the lead in the sixth minute after being set up by right winger Benjamin Andre, and the Corsican side looked comfortable in the first half, with the lively Johan Cavalli causing problems with his probing runs from midfield. The nimble-footed quarterback got his wish, dashing through the snow and a weary defence all the way into the NCAA record book.BOSTON, Massachusetts - As the Blue Jays were winning two out of three in Boston with a piecemeal starting rotation, the franchises one-time ace was making his first start with Triple-A Buffalo. Ricky Romeros outing, on Saturday in Louisville, was more of the same from the struggling left-hander. "Saw the line and obviously it wasnt a very good one," said pitching coach Pete Walker. "Im sure hes not real happy (today.) I guess its a little disappointing to see those numbers but I know hes still working hard and I still think hes on the right path. Hopefully he can stay positive and continue to go out there and pitch." The line Walkers talking about: 3 2/3 innings, six earned runs, 10 hits, five walks, no strikeouts, a wild pitch and a balk. Romero threw 76 pitches, of which only 41 were strikes. Even more disconcerting is the fact Romero was only three days removed from a disastrous start for the Blue Jays in Tampa Bay, in which he faced seven hitters and recorded only one out before being lifted from the game. "I think anytime anybody has returned from the big leagues to the minor leagues its always a letdown," said Walker. "Those Triple-A hitters can swing the bat. I mean, theres a lot of good players down there and Im sure most major leaguers can attest to that. When they go down for the first time or when theyre first sent down when theyre in the big leagues, its always a little bit of a letdown. Mentally you go out there and you think you can just go out there and do what you need to do but they swing the bat and they can put you in some tough situations." There is no timeline for Romeros return to the major leagues. Manager John Gibbons has said the left-hander needs to rack up innings, to compete away from tthe major league spotlight.dddddddddddd. Surely there is at least concern, at worst doubt, about Romeros ability to return to pre-2012 form. Getting ping ponged to the majors for two unsuccessful starts and back to the minors cant have been a positive experience for an already fragile psyche. The physiological aspect of Project: Romero is still considered relatively minor. "Hes moved his foot in line to home plate about 12 to 14 inches over. Its an adjustment but its not like its, were changing arm slot and changing major things. Its an undertaking though, dont get me wrong, I still think it takes a lot of work and time. But I think, you know, hes made a commitment to it and I think still in the long run its better for him. Its just a matter of him getting results." MELKY CABRERA TO GET WORLD SERIES RING San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy will have a special gift for Melky Cabrera on Tuesday. A World Series ring. "Thats a big blessing God sent me," said Cabrera through his interpreter, third base coach Luis Rivera. "They called me and they told me that they would give me a ring. I asked them to ship it and they said, No, were going to give it to you when we go to Toronto. Its special for me." Cabrera was leading the majors with a .346 batting average when he was suspended for 50 games for performance enhancing drug use last August 15. Despite being eligible to return for the National League Championship Series, the Giants didnt reinstate Cabrera. BRANDON MORROW ON TARGET FOR WEDNESDAY START Morrow, who was scratched from his scheduled start Friday and rescheduled start Sunday due to a back strain, threw a 30-pitch bullpen session and expects to be ready to pitch on Wednesday against the Giants.
