OXFORD, Miss. -- The unlikely duo of Jaylen Walton and Jordan Wilkins led Mississippi to a resounding Egg Bowl upset. Walton had a 91-yard touchdown run and Wilkins, a running back, threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to lead No. 18 Ole Miss over No. 4 Mississippi State 31-17 on Saturday. Bo Wallace threw for 296 yards despite completing just 13 of 30 passes. Ole Miss (9-3, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) led 7-3 at halftime before its offence got going in the second half. Its the 10th time in 11 seasons the home team has won the Egg Bowl. Wilkins touchdown pass to Cody Core -- with 9:14 remaining in the game -- came on the second throw of his career after a pitch from Wallace, pushing the Rebels ahead by two touchdowns. The loss by Mississippi State (10-2, 6-2, No. 4 CFP) means Alabama clinched the SEC Western Division. Dak Prescott threw for 282 yards and a touchdown. Its the first time both teams came into the Egg Bowl ranked since 1999. The loss is a severe blow to Mississippi States hope of advancing to the inaugural College Football Playoff. DeRunnya Wilson caught eight passes for 117 yards and Fred Ross added six catches for 103 yards, but the Bulldogs were undone by an aggressive Ole Miss offence that wasnt afraid to take chances. Walton finished with a career-high 148 yards rushing on just 14 carries. Ole Miss tight end Evan Engram caught five passes for 176 yards Ole Miss had lost three straight conference games -- including last weeks 30-0 setback at Arkansas -- before breaking through with a convincing win in the bitter instate rivalry. People thought we wouldnt be up for this game, but its the Egg Bowl, Walton said. How can you not get up for the Egg Bowl? Mississippi State struggled in the first half with just 128 total yards. Prescott never appeared comfortable in the pocket, facing consistent pressure from the Ole Miss defence. The Rebels came into the game giving up just 13.5 points per game, which ranked No. 1 in the country. Ole Miss lived up to the stats, using a swarming defence to contain Mississippi States running game. But the Rebels offence took a while to get going. Wallace was playing on a sore right ankle that he sprained during last weeks loss to Arkansas. The ankle was heavily taped on Saturday and the injury appeared to slow the velocity on his throws. One promising drive early in the game ended when an errant pass was intercepted in the end zone by Taveze Calhoun. But the Rebels broke through later in the first quarter on Wallaces 1-yard touchdown run, which was set up by a 46-yard pass from Wallace to Engram on the previous play. Mississippi States Evan Sobiesk made a career-best 45-yard field goal early in the second quarter, which pulled the Bulldogs within 7-3. The third quarter didnt look anything like the first half, with the teams trading long pass completions to set up quick scoring opportunities. Wallace completed an 83-yard pass to Engram -- which was the longest for the program since 2008 -- to set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Jeremy Liggins that gave the Rebels a 14-10 lead. But it was Waltons 91-yard run that really gave the Rebels momentum. The play was designed for the 5-foot-8, 166-pounder to run right, but after a few steps he changed directions, shooting through the left side of the line before breaking a few arm tackles and then streaking down the left sideline for the score. I made one hard cut to see what I could get, Walton said. I remember one guy missed me and then there was nothing there. Comprar Asics Baratas . Numbers Game breaks down the Kings deal for Marian Gaborik. The Kings Get: RW Marian Gaborik. Gaborik, 32, has been one of the premier goal-scorers in the league, but is also a couple years removed from real top level production. From 2001-2002 through 2011-2012, he scored 306 goals in 651 games, his 0.47 goals per game ranked fourth among players that played in at least 500 games over that span. In the past two seasons, however, Gaborik has a meagre 18 goals and 41 points in 69 games, not near his previous level of production and its not just by some run of bad luck. Gaborik is averaging 2.14 shots on goal per game this season, easily the lowest mark of his career, and his 16:25 time on ice per game is his lowest since his rookie season of 2000-2001. Hes also missed time with a broken collarbone, returning to the lineup after the Olympics. Going to Los Angeles, Gaborik has an opportunity to add a new dimension to the Kings, a grinding team that doesnt have anyone that can match Gaboriks speed. If he can recapture some of his goal-scoring touch, playing for a dominant possession team, then Gaborik might rehabilitate some of his rep as a scorer while, at the same time, providing a much-needed offensive boost for a team that ranks 27th with 2.32 goals per game this season. If Gaborik moves into a top line role with the Kings, that should mean that a winger that has been playing in the top six -- one of Tyler Toffoli, Dustin Brown, Justin Williams -- will get bumped into a third-line role and that is a positive in terms of the Kings overall forward depth. Gaborik is in the final year of a deal that pays him $7.5-millionn per season, but half of his salary was retained by the New York Rangers, in order to facilitate his trade to Columbus, so hes not particularly cost prohibitive three quarters of the way through the season.dddddddddddd The Blue Jackets Get: RW Matt Frattin, a second-round (Torontos 2014 or 2015 pick) and a conditional third-round pick in 2014 or 2015. Frattin is a 26-year-old winger who had shown some offensive ability with Toronto (scoring 15 goals and 28 points in 82 games) before this current season in Los Angeles, during which hes scored two goals and six points in 40 games. While Frattins lack of production can be tied to a low on-ice shooting percentage (4.59%), his relative possession stats were not good despite getting easy minutes -- not facing tough competition and starting 58.2% of his shifts in the offensive zone. At this point, Frattin is basically a fringe NHL winger and hell have to compete for playing time with the likes of Corey Tropp and Blake Comeau. Frattin, at an $875,000 cap hit through the end of the season, will be a restricted free agent in the summer. The second and third-round picks, combined, present about a 40% chance of yielding an NHL player, so its entirely possible that the Blue Jackets could go into next season with little to show in return for Gaborik, but thats a reflection of the decline in Gaboriks productivity. If he was the same as the three-time 40-goal scorer that he has been in the past, then the Blue Jackets a) would have been more inclined to keep him or b) would have been able to extract a more substantial price in return.
