What do you need to know about the weekends big stories? Joe McDonald gives us his take on the biggest and best. This is where we say, Morning, Joe.Offensive New Yorkers: The New York Rangers are pumping in goals at an incredible pace. The Rangers lead the league with 55 goals in the first 13 games and are atop the Metropolitan Division at 10-3-0. They have scored five or more goals in eight of their 13 games, including the last five, and lead the league in goals per game with 4.23. The best part is the scoring is being generated throughout the lineup. Over the past five games, the line of Michael Grabner, Kevin Hayes and J.T. Miller has combined for 23 points (12 goals and 11 assists). There was a point last season when coach Alain Vigneault had Hayes sitting in the press box as a healthy scratch because he wasnt productive. It served as a wakeup call, and Hayes used that as motivation during the offseason. Hayes scored a goal and was a plus-2 to help the Rangers capture a 5-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night. Hayes is on a five-game points streak (four goals, nine assists), and his four-game goal-scoring streak is a career high. Hes also a plus-11 in the past five games. The teams plus-26 goal differential also leads the league and proves the Rangers are a force to be reckoned with this season.Blackhawks still got it: After becoming the kings of perennial success over the past six seasons, one would have to wonder when the Chicago Blackhawks would run out of gas, luck and the ability to win consistently. It will happen, right? And if so, when? The answer: Not yet. On Sunday, the Blackhawks defeated the Dallas Stars 4-3 in overtime, giving them their sixth straight win and a 7-1-1 mark at home. While some might question the production of Jonathan Toews or Patrick Kane -- the captain and defending Art Ross winner are both off last seasons pace -- the Blackhawks are getting incredible contributions from Artem Anisimov, who had one goal and one assist Sunday to extend his career-high points streak to 11 games. He has eight goals and nine assists in that span. Kane scored his fifth of the season, while Toews added his third. There is too much talent on this team in the prime of their careers to think Chicago is going in the opposite direction. After 13 games, the Blackhawks lead the Central Division with 19 points. A lot of that success so far is based on the goaltending of Corey Crawford and the stellar play of Anisimov. Once Kane and Toews get hot, and it will happen, Chicago is going to be an even more dangerous team.Blowout rebound: By now youve heard about the Columbus Blue Jackets demolishing the Montreal Canadiens 10-0 on Friday, an embarrassing loss for the Atlantic Division leaders. The Canadiens entered that game 9-0-1. Montreal had won eight in a row and had only allowed 13 goals in the previous 10 games. Its a loss the Canadiens -- especially goalie Al Montoya, who was in net for all 10 goals -- wont soon forget but need to learn from. They showed that ability to quickly bounce back with a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. Those two games should serve as a benchmark for the Canadiens. After losing in that fashion on Friday, it could easily have been the beginning of a losing skid, which weve often seen before. Instead, they showed character to rebound from a devastating loss. That tells me every player is on the same page in the dressing room. That tells me the overall organizational message is understood. It also proves Montreal will be a dangerous team to defeat consistently. There were questions entering the season whether coach Michel Therrien had lost his players and how long he would last if the Canadiens got off to a tough start. This team is legit, and despite losing by double digits, the coachs job is safe, judging by his teams response.Tom Brady Patriots Jersey . Irving Fryar Youth Jersey . Kiriasis and brakeman Franziska Fritz finished two runs in one minute 55.41 seconds -- a mere 0.01 seconds ahead of Meyers and Lolo Jones, who likely bolstered her Olympic hopes by helping give USA-1 a huge push in the second heat. He accepted earlier this week and the team made the announcement Friday.Australia wicketkeeper Matthew Wade has said that a total in the range of 230 to 250 would have made a difference on what he felt was a deteriorating pitch in Port Elizabeth. After electing to bat, Australia lost their top half in only 15 overs. That they eventually recovered to post 167 was courtesy Wades fighting fifty and a more patient one from Mitchell Marsh. South Africa chased that total down fairly comfortably with 87 balls to spare.I dont think any game that you lose for Australia is tougher than the next, they all hurt just as much, Wade said. Having said that, on that wicket, if we could have posted a reasonable total, anywhere around 230-250, I think we would have been right in the game. So I think its disappointing we didnt get those runs on the board because I feel like the wicket was deteriorating and getting a touch slower as the game moved on.Wades 52 was studded with five fours and two sixes, but it was not with the bat alone that he showed his aggression. Wade had a series of exchanges with chinaman bowler Tabraiz Shamsi. The two verbally sparred for a lengthy period, before Wade decided to tuck the bowler in the elbow while running across for a single, prompting Faf du Plessis to approach the umpires who had to intervene to calm things down. Its just competitive cricket. International cricket is hard work. We had a crack the other night and they came back at us today, so its fair, Wade said. I suppose it can get blown out of proportion at times, with all the technology around now. There are stump mikes and cameras everywhere. I enjoy that sort of a game, it got me in the contest straight away. Weve got to find a way to keep him (Shamsi) out of the contest. I think if he doesnt get in the contest with wickets as quick as he did today, I think we can keep him a little quieter.Wade was seen having several conversations with the umpires both while batting as well as keeping. During South Africas chase, David Warner joined Wade at slip and engaged in plenty of chit-chat with Farhaan Behardien, prompting the umpires to once again get in between. A lot of the conversations I was having with the umpires were about differeent things, Wade clarified.dddddddddddd. Obviously, there was one moment when I first walked out there that he told us to settle down, and then, after that, it was just general chats. It wasnt really anything to do with what was going on out there, they were just general conversations.Shamsi finished with parsimonious figures of 10-1-36-3, including the wickets of Steven Smith, Travis Head and John Hastings. Hes obviously something different, we faced him in the West Indies, Wade said. When the ball is spinning, like it was spinning today, hes difficult. Hes a good bowler, hes quite tough to read early. You need to face a few balls to really get a read on him. We need to play him better, for sure, but if the wickets got a little bit in it, hes tough.Wade had walked out with Australia 49 for 5 and immediately began a recovery through a partnership of 62 with Marsh. Marsh was dismissed in the 28th over, but Wade batted on for close to nine more overs before becoming the penultimate man to be dismissed. It wasnt ideal to be out there that early, obviously, but it was good to get it with Mitchy and work as hard as we could to build a partnership. Unfortunately, we just kept losing wickets at crucial times of the game today, he said.We need to start winning a few more crucial moments, and me and Mitch, at that point, had put on 60 or so. We needed to probably knuckle down and take the innings as deep as we could to get to a reasonable total.Wade admitted to Australia being outplayed comprehensively, but hoped they could bring out their best in the final game. I think the changes they (South Africa) made suited the wicket; they brought a couple of spinners in. We wanted to really win the last two games and go home on a high, that hasnt happened. We havent played anywhere near our best throughout the first four games. Weve got to have a long, hard look in the mirror and find a way to produce our best in the next game. Were not in a position where we can just walk out and play under par and win games of cricket. ' ' '
