FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Another week, another new quarterback, another win for the New England Patriots.Jacoby Brissett had a 27-yard touchdown run in his first NFL start, LeGarrette Blount added scoring runs of 1 and 41 yards , and the Patriots beat the Houston Texans 27-0 on Thursday night. It was the Patriots first shutout win since 2012 and the first time the Texans have been shutout since 2003.Brissett began the season as the third-string quarterback behind Tom Brady, the franchise cornerstone who is serving a four-game suspension for his role in Deflategate, and Jimmy Garoppolo -- inactive after injuring his right shoulder last week against Miami. Brissetts start on Thursday was the first time that New England had started a rookie quarterback since Drew Bledsoe in 1993.The Texans (2-1) entered the game with the NFLs third-ranked defense and nine sacks through two games, but they struggled to put pressure on the 23-year-old quarterback.Brissett was steady throughout, moving the chains on offense with a diet of short passes and scrambles. The Patriots (3-0) also mixed in lots of pre-snap motion and shifts that helped create both throwing and running lanes for Brissett. He finished the night 11 of 19 for 103 yards, and ran eight times for 48 yards.Houston didnt help itself on special teams either, turning the ball over twice on fumbled kickoff returns. Houston quarterback Brock Osweiler was 24 for 41 for 196 yards and was sacked twice. He also had a promising drive in the second quarter thwarted by Jamie Collins interception . The Texans had a chance to get on the board just before halftime, but that drive stalled at midfield.Lamar Miller rushed 22 times for 84 yards.QUOTABLE:Brissett on his first NFL touchdown: It was crazy. It was awesome. Definitely great to see all the players just run up to you. I got a headache from all the head bobbing and head bumping. But it was definitely worth it.Osweiler on the loss: I felt like we had a great week of preparation, very focused. The game plan was solid and we worked hard. So this is hard to take. But the bottom line is that New England had a great game plan. They deserve all the credit. But well bounce back from this one.BLOUNT FORCE: Blount ran 24 times for 105 yards and two touchdowns, including the 41-yarder in the fourth quarter to give New England a 27-0 lead. Its the third time in his career he has had back-to-back 100-yard games, and the first time since 2011. Blount also had a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter.GRONK RETURNS: Tight end Rob Gronkowski made his season debut after sitting out the first two weeks with a hamstring injury he sustained during training camp. Gronk was used sparingly and mainly as a blocker, appearing in just 14 snaps, and three in the second half.RUNNING QBS: Brissetts 27-yard touchdown run was the longest for a Patriots quarterback since Steve Grogan went 41 yards for a score in 1976. The longest run of Tom Bradys career is 22 yards.I was just running until I got stopped, Brissett said. It worked out how we planned it was going to work out. The guys up front did a great job. And Malcolm on that side did a great job blocking that guy.CHALLENGE: The Patriots first touchdown was set up by a successful coachs challenge by Bill Belichick. After Stephen Gostkowskis 24-yard field goal put New England up 3-0, Houstons Charles James fielded the ensuing kickoff from just inside the end zone. James ran it out, and was tripped up at the 17. But the ball squirted out on a hit by Brandon Bolden. Duron Harmon recovered for the Patriots, but James ruled down on the field. Belichick challenged, and the call was reversed.STREAK ENDS: The Texans entered Thursday having not allowed touchdown in six consecutive quarters. That streak ended in the first quarter with Brissetts 27-yard touchdown run.INJURIES: Houston tight end Stephen Anderson left the game in the third quarter with a hamstring injury and did not return.MOVING ON UP: Belichick tied Curly Lambeau for fourth place on the regular-season wins list with 226. He is now only behind Tom Landry (250), George Halas (318) and Don Shula (328).---Online: AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFLScarpe Air Max 90 Rosa . Miller reached right to deflect Mikhail Grabovskis attempt with just over 2 minutes remaining in regulation, and then made two more saves in the shootout Sunday to give the Sabres a 2-1 win over the Washington Capitals.LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are once again handing out decisive victories over top teams, and they are hoping to jump to the top of the NFC North. It might take a Lambeau Leap. The Packers come into Sundays game against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field with three straight wins after dropping four in a row and renewed hope -- if not much room for error.Green Bay (7-6) wiped out NFC West leader Seattle last week, intercepting Russell Wilson five times in a 38-10 romp, and will try to keep rolling against a team that has looked lost all season. Whether it has been injuries, suspensions or poor execution, just about everything has gone wrong for Chicago (3-10).You know, letdown, trap game, we dont use these types of terms in the locker room and in our meeting rooms, Rodgers said. But being a sports fan, you know those are terms that get thrown around when you look at the records of opponents matching up. We just dont approach the game like that. The Packers simply cant afford a letdown.Tied with Minnesota for second in the division and two behind Detroit as it enters a three-game stretch against NFC North rivals, Green Bay needs help to make the playoffs for the eighth straight year. The Packers will have to contend with one of Chicagos top playmakers, with receiver Alshon Jeffery returning from a four-game suspension for violating the NFLs policy against performance-enhancing drugs. Having one of their stars back is small consolation for the Bears with the team missing the playoffs for the ninth time in 10 years. Here are some things to look for when Green Bay meets Chicago:LINE `EM UP: The Packers decision to release veteran guard Josh Sitton before the start of the season was a surprise. Sitton is now with the Bears, but replacement Lane Taylor has been solid. The offensive line overall has played well especially over the last three games, allowing two sacks in that span and just one last week to the Seahawks formidable defense. The return of veteran right guard T.J. Lang against the Seattle from a three-game absence because of a foot injury was an added boost. Protecting Rodgers is especially vital now that the quarterback is nursing injuries to his left hamstring and right calf.BETTER BARKLEY: Chicagos Matt Barkley didnt make a great impression in a loss at Green Bay two months ago. Hes bbeen doing better lately.dddddddddddd definitely have grown a lot since that game in my knowledge of the offense, my comfort level with running this offense in and out of the huddle, getting plays out, so I think itll be definitely a better finish than what I showed last time, he said.Barkley has made the most of his opportunity the past three games with Jay Cutler and Brian Hoyer sidelined by season-ending injuries. He has thrown for 720 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions despite being victimized by drops, and is showing he at least belongs on an NFL roster.Thats an improvement from the first game against Green Bay . He came in after Hoyer broke his left arm and completed just six of 15 passes for 81 yards with two interceptions.POTENTIAL PAIN: With the National Weather Service predicting single-digit temperatures for Sunday, it could be a painful day, particularly for the banged-up Rodgers. You still have to hydrate in the cold, actually even more, he said. The conditions obviously affect the field, the surface.Rodgers was already dealing with the hamstring issue when he hurt his calf throwing a 66-yard touchdown pass to Davante Adams early last week. Despite the limited mobility, he tore up Seattle
